Consumption

Lets face it. You do not buy a Honda Accourd because of its unique fuel consumption rates. OK - Honda has over the years been busy trying to tell everyone how good they are in fuel consumption, but I guess most Honda drivers will agree, that better values are found elsewhere. With the fuel prices we have now a days, I do find it a good idea to keep an eye on it anyway. First of all - the consumption will affect the amount of money you have available at the end of the month. Secondly the consumption may say something about the condition of the engine. Below here you will find an overview of the consumption rates which can be anticipated for a Honda Accord 2.0 Sport.

Be aware, that the fuel consumption of your car is dictated by the weight of your right foot. Furthermore the resulting weight of your car caused by what you have in your boot/trunk is also important. There are probably a lot of other things which can change the values - like the weather. The values I have achived are therefore not the whole truth. But as said - here are the values which I managed to achieve.

Inaccuracy

In the following you will not find any reference to the brands used. Futhermore there is not much of an indication which quality of fuel I have used. It shouldn't make much of a difference. There are of course also some tolerences when it comes to the fueling process. I can't guarantee that I fill up the tank exactly the same way each time. Having said that - the tank was filled completely every time. All in all this should give a maximum tolerance of 1/40, which in my opinion is OK. Finaly there are some tolerences on the pump counter. I have no idea how much tolerence is accepted why I have no chance in the world to take this into account. Having said all this, I'd still claim that the values shown here are good valid representatives. Looking at the total values, I'd claim that the values are valid.

Driving habbits

We all know, that the way we drive is A & O for the consumption. I do not look at myself as an economic driver. On the other hand I do never try to set up new world records. I have no intend to be the first at the next light. In other words, I consider myself as a fairly normal driver. 30% of my driving is done in cities. 10 % is on normal roads outside cities. The rest - 60% - is highway. I tend not to use the car for shorter distances, so the engine should get warm every time I turn the key. Twice a day it will though be cold. I guess these are not the conditions that car companies use when they determine the fuel economy for a given car. But I guess the values I have measured are OK.

For your information: Litre Fueled is the amount of gas fuled on the given day. Litre consumed is the amount of gas used until I fuel the car the next time. It is the last value which is used as basement for the consumption as this is the value which sais something about the quality of the fuel bought on a given day. This can be a bit confusing, but I hope this gives an understanding for the figures shown here..
